The public release of Copilot is getting closer and closer. Microsoft is thus bringing the technology behind ChatGPT to the Edge browser, Microsoft 365 and Windows 11.

What is Copilot?

Copilot is an AI assistant that asks you questions and gives you tasks. Because Copilot will have access to all your programs and documents, data from your calendar, emails in Outlook, chats in Teams and notes from meetings in OneNote, it goes far beyond a “chat. Microsoft is partnering with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, for this purpose. Together, they develop the underlying AI, and Microsoft provides the infrastructure on which OpenAI services are run.

As we wrote earlier, Copilot combines the power of large language models (LLMs) with the data in the Microsoft Graph and Microsoft 365 apps to help you work and create content more efficiently. Companies that integrate and use Copilot in their work processes can realize significant productivity improvements.

Where can you find Copilot?

  • Windows

The AI assistant will soon be available in the sidebar of Windows 11, ready to answer any question. Dragging a PDF file into Copilot and asking content questions or asking to summarize, rewrite or explain certain content from an app makes your work easier. You can also easily assign tasks such as adjusting sound settings or turning on focus time to Copilot.

  • Microsoft 365

Because Copilot works across all Office apps and Windows, so to speak, we will spend much less time searching for the right documents and programs, clearing data and organizing them. But we will also be able to work much faster when creating documents, texts, images, graphics and presentations. Copilot will greatly change the way we work with Office apps and will lead to more creativity, increased productivity and improved skills among users.

See below, for example, how Copilot will transform working with Excel.

What does Copilot cost?

Unfortunately, it seems that Microsoft does not plan to integrate Copilot for free. As it stands, they will start charging $30 per month, per user for Copilot in Microsoft 365.

When will Copilot be available ?

  • Windows

There are rumors that Windows Copilot will be rolled out at the same time as the Windows 11 update; 23H2.

  • Microsoft 365

When we can expect to see this AI assistant in Microsoft 365 is still unclear. However, Microsoft has already shared guidelines that your account must meet to get started with Microsoft Copilot.

We’ll continue to follow developments for you!
